I'm curious how "Gound
Ivy" got its name because is sure does not look like Ivy in any way, shape or form.
Even the Romans were confused because its Latin species name - hederacea - likewise refers
to some resemblance to Ivy. (Actually,
the flower's Latin name was chosen by Swedish botanist Carolus Linnaeus. The Romans
probably called it, "look-at-that-pretty-blue-weed".)
Anyway, same as with the Red dead nettle, Ground Ivy is a weed native to
large parts of Eurasia. It can be quite invasive. But in the right spot, it can also
function as a beautiful ground cover, as it spreads ferociously.
